Chapter 1.The Wreck

I was unaware of the intense danger as Tylan awoke me from my horrible dreams. As I opened my tired, confused eyes,I could see the terrified expression in his soft, clear blue eyes as he looked at me. After I got out of my bed and slipped on my robe and my fuzzy yellow slippers, I managed to shove whatever I could grab -which included some shirts, a pair of socks,- 2 of pants, a jacket, some shoes and some water bottles, into my neon yellow 'Nike' backpack.
After Tylan did the same, we rushed outside.
As we ran through an open door, hot air hit our faces. A woman was screaming,"Fire, fire! Run to the boats!" We ran through the smoke, tears streaming down our warm cheeks in our atempt to reach the life boats, Tylan's family and to safety on the other side the cruise ship, 'The Star'. A picture of my mother in Australia flashed thruogh my head and I thought about never seeing her again and that made me run faster.
Tylan was about five feet in front of me. Where I was running there was a large gap in the railing where a life boat had been. But where Tylan was, the railing was still in perfect condition. Then disaster struck.
Without warning, the ship started to shake and tremble. A thin crack formed from the bow to the stern of the cruise ship and grew in width. From the forse of the crack, the side of the ship we were on tilted sideways, and we slid towards the edge of the ship.
Before I knew it, I was over the edge and into the shockingly cold sea water
