&&!; So far I've recieved 5 PMs of people pretending to be a mod to get my password or offering me a job of a mod if I give my password.
Fake mod - 4
Job offer - 1
Here are 2 examples that I didn't delete:
"Good day to you ma'am/sir. Today we have received a hacking report from another Gaia user. Even though Gaia Admins never ask for passwords, we need your password to see if you are guilty or not. This process will only take 2 minutes. If you do not reply with your password, your account and IP will be banned from Gaia. If you are found guilty your account will be banned for a couple of days. You have 5 minutes to reply with your password.
Thank you.
Sincerely,
Gaia Staff" * *

"We're sorry to inform you but your account has been brought to our attention. Your account has been reported and needs to be investigated for further information. Like any other Gaia Moderator, we do not want to ban any account for any reason. We just want to help the innocent people out. You will be asked a few questions to verify that this is your account. Please fill out the information requested. If you do not fill out the information requested immediately your account will result in a Perma-Ban.

Once your account has been verified that its free of faults, your e-mail provider will be notified when your account investigation is over. We thank you for your patience.
Sincerely,
The Mods of Gaia" * *

The accounts are basically always very new so if they get reported they don't lose much. Usually they'll make their names obvious such as 'MOD Investigation' (sent me the 2nd PM, I altered the name a bit though). How stupid do they think we are..?
"Please do not give out your password to anyone! Admins and moderators will never request your password. If a user states that he/she is an admin or moderator, but is requesting your password, PLEASE REPORT THIS USER TO A MOD!"
DON'T FALL FOR IT!!
Please post comments on what you think of this desperation.
