Okay, this is something that I never really thought on before, but has recently become a big thing in my "gaia life". I've been a member here for over three years, I've seen the botters, I've seen the bans of people who were douped into botted gold.
Recently I have seen something horrid happen.
Ares_Iacis, well known friend, loyal gaia user, was first hacked, then banned for botting!
He woke up one day and found all his items gone, his name changed to "I shmack negro bishes" and all his money gone. What does he do? He submits a ticket, mopes about a bit because he'd lost EVEYRTHING. Then he decides to buckle down and earn it all back. Many very kind and generous people donated letters and items to him, trying to help return him to his former glory. This was one of the sweeter things I have seen done here. Too many people just point and laugh and tell you that you were an idiot. Still, he wants to work his butt off and earn some stuff.
So he surfs and he plays the puzzles and he gets graced with the luck of having giftboxes with delux cat ears! What does he do? What would any of us do?! Sell them!! He continues to play Gaia like this, only really posting in "bump" threads and lotto threads, spending all of his time on puzzles instead.
Then, today, we wake up and guess what? Banned for botting. I know for a fact he has never botted, will never bot, but here he is, once again having ALL of his items, ALL of his hard work, reipped from his hands when he did NOTHING WRONG.
I know that no one will believe this, that I am typing it all out for no real reason. "OMG LAWLS U BOTTED!!111!" Yeah, well sometimes people see things wrong, and it needs to be looked into.
I doubt anyone will actually look into it, and I doubt anything will be done. But if the decision isn't reversed I doubt he will ever come back to Gaia.
And after three years, I may say goodbye as well. I adore Gaia, its events, enjoyable company, waiting with bated breath for the 15th to arrive. But this is...I am thinking the final straw. If this is how they treat him, this is how they will treat anyone, and I come here to relax, have fun. A large part of me wants to rant and scream and cuss and tel someone to fix it, demand they fix it, but it won't do any good. So I'll just end with this::
