As most of you know, Blizzard recently released an MMORPG called World of Warcraft. My dad, a big fan of Bliz, picked it up. Now he plays it. All the time.
Not that this is a bad thing. I like gaming as much as he does, so it's ironiccally the one time we actually sit and talk (Even if it is about the complicated points of choosing a rogue over a mage). Before WoW, it was Diablo, then Diablo II, so on.
My mom likes Tetris. Stratch that, she kicks a$$ at it. But we don't play that together that often. We already watch movies and anime together. But we really like Monster Rancher. She makes the decicions regarding the actual raising of the monster, and I use it in battle to reach its full potential.
My stepmom plays Myst. She usually needs help with a lot of the puzzles. So there's that.
Other people who look at videogames and say that they are a waste of time are DEAD WRONG. It allows me to connect with my father - not the warmest of parents - and it allows dad to play with his coworkers and have fun. By proxy, it allows me to then get to know dad's pals, who are nice people overall.
I'll leave with this statement: Games are good fro the family, if done right.
