I forgot to add that one of my English 3 assignments is to write a Whitman-esque poem. One of the problems I had was inspiration and the other is the style itself.
Luckily, I got my share of inspiration while I was sleeping and dreaming last night. It was a bizzarre dream in short, but there was a portion I really wanted to write something about.
The "protagonist" of the dream was dressed up in a suit (and since I forgot what kind of suit, I'll just assume that he's a hawk or a falcon) at a costume party parade. After some parading, he encountered his friend's daughter looking low and mellow (dressed up in a blue jay outfit). He wondered what was wrong and she replied that she was too old for these sort of things and felt embarrassed. So the hawk just went into this speech that actually made sense, and I'm saying "actually" since most dream-speeches are forgotten. I'll see if I can remember a bunch of it.
[HAWK]: "So you're down because you're still in the nest, huh? Birds ought to mature a bit before they try out their wings."
[BLUEJAY]: "But they try to fly without even knowing what they're doing. And they fly."
[HAWK]: "Point taken. Well, here's the trick if you're still in the nest. First you jump up and down on the branches, jumping higher and higher until you're jumping from branch to branch, see, and it makes you look good. You're trying hard, which makes you look good, and you get experience along the way, you know... To understand how it feels like to get higher and higher as you climb. It's progress. Then when you reach the top, you'll probably forget that you're up there and with a leap... You're ready for the world and all you need is to open up your wings to fly."
I think I missed a couple parts, but that's the gist of it.
It's pretty cool. There was a lot more to the dream, but that's what I'm planning to put in my poem. Now...
If only I can get the "Whitman-esque" part down...

A Goal on Gaia
Although I'm only here for its nifty avatar system, it wouldn't hurt to create a purpose for me to be here and write about other Gaia-related junk.
