A Measure of Insanity....
....for life, disasters, and other such things.
We like to think long term.....
Here is the Grade A, foolproof, as good as it gets plan for my senior composition recital (which is coming up in November xp ).

Program Order

A Sailor's Love - choral piece, completed(save for a few 'dynamic' issues - waiting for feedback from professors on that. stare This is the song I posted the poetry for in the Bard's guild wink )
What Thou My Vision? - arrangement, brass quintet, completed

Song Cycle - as yet untitled and un-named. There will be 7 total, and I have finished #5 sweatdrop Based on the poetry of Emily Dickinson (as, apparently, I cannot write any of my own well enough. stare )
-End First Half

Uncharted Waters - four movement string quartet (Drifting Away, Doshaburi, Washing Ashore, and Voyage Home, respectively biggrin ). The first piece of music I ever wrote (on paper! eek ), and I do believe a little bit of revision for Mvt. 3 is in order before this one is done. sweatdrop

-End Second Half

Usually, recitals are ordered so that there is a break of about ten minutes in the middle so no one gets seat burn. xd I'm going to need it as well, as I am required to procure (roughly) 45 minutes of music overall, and I wouldn't want anyone in the audience to lose interest due to the above reason. biggrin

It looks like there's not a lot on the program yet, but Uncharted Waters is roughly twenty minutes overall, so I think I'll be fine. wink

I have a heck of a lot of revisions to do to get my butt in gear. And I thank God that the recent 'virus' scare on Brandark resulted in the loss of only one piece of music, for which I have a hard copy handy(brass quintet). I don't want to think about what would've happened had I not backed up the rest on a zip disk. *shudder* gonk Thank God. 3nodding

I have to write something 'academic' as well for my recital....which probably means I will tear my hair out over the summer to attempt a fugue. Epitomy of counterpoint. I hate counterpoint. xp
Aaaaand....something atonal. (atonal is music wherein there is no pitch center - i.e., it never feels like you are firmly grounded in the music. It always feels slightly....off. stare ) I personally hate atonal music, but the point of getting an undergraduate degree is showing people you can bend to their rules. Ewwww.... stressed

And that's pretty much it. I am planning for the end of November (which is around my birthday, too! biggrin ), as I figure right after thanksgiving is the best time to get most of my family there. You are all invited, of course. I will try to find a way to get some of it up on the 'net, so you can hear what it is I'm doing - but wouldn't it just be neater if you could make it in person? biggrin
