Ann slowly got up with the help of Tazuna and Sakura
Tazuna~Why are you not afraid of him? He could have killed you.
Sakura~Are you alright, Ann?
She nodded, sighing.
Ann~He can't kill me. He isn't allowed to. But I can't do anything.That feeling is still there…
Sakura~You're doing everything though, Ann. you can do more than me at least…
Tazuna~The mist is getting thicker again.
Sakura~Wouldn't Zabuza be affected too?
Ann~No, sight isn't a problem when you can hear your opponent. He's doing that right now to avoid seeing something. I can do that too, which is how I know where everyone is…usually.
Tazuna~If you can do that too, wouldn't it be better if you fought Zabuza instead? That would mean even footing.
Ann~Usually...but I can't hurt him...I mean I can, but...I can't do it like that. The same way he can't hurt me.
Sakura~We'll find a way. You don’t have to figure this out by yourself. There has to be a way so no one has to die.
Ann~Do you really think so?
Tazuna~It sounds like you and the pyro manage to get into a lot of things. I think it's possible. I'll be terrified for my life, but it could still happen.
Ann perked up, looked around, then closed her eyes. She tried focusing her chakra to listen into the mist.
Sakura~Ann?
Ann~Shhh…He's here…
Her eyes snapped open just before Kakashi appeared. She pushed them and Kakashi out of the way just as Zabuza brought his sword down to slice at them. Ann tried to block his swing, but the weight of his blade and his intent broke past her guard. Luckily, the cut across her chest was shallow from him pulling back at the last second.
Kakashi~Ann, how are you–
Zabuza~Do you want me to kill you?!
Ann~I'm trusting that you don't. You don't have to do this, Zabi. No one has to die if you stop now.
Zabuza~It doesn't work like that, Ann. I'm a ninja first. And so are you.
He put his sword on his back and disappeared into the mist. Ann dropped to her knees and let some tears fall in frustration.
Kakashi~Ann, I know you love him, but I need to end this soon. If I don't, the others might not last much longer in the mirrors.
She wiped her eyes and nodded.
Ann~Okay…
She took a deep breath to steady herself.
Ann~Okay, sensei.
A cold wind blew over them. Kakashi looked panicked for a moment before calming down and pulling out a scroll. He wiped some of Ann's blood on his thumb before wiping it onto the scroll.
Kakashi~It ends now, Zabuza.
Zabuza~Show me what you'll do.

Sakura carefully looked around before tending to Ann's wound. She wrapped her quickly.
Sakura~I'm surprised he didn't end up killing you…If it was sensei, then at least his vest would have taken most of the damage.
Ann~Yeah…But Zabuza owes me now…
Sakura put away her little first aid kit.
Tazuna~What's that sound?
Ann paused to listen.
Ann~Dogs…Kakashi used one to track me once…That's why he used my blood. It was to find Zabuza because it's on his sword.
There was a crackling sound that almost chirped.
Sakura~Are those birds?
Ann~It's coming from the same place as Kakashi. He's building up a lot of chakra…s**t!
Tazuna and Sakura pushed her down and pinned her.
Sakura~Don't get excited! You'll lose more blood!
Ann~My blood won't be the only blood I'll lose if I don't save him!

Kakashi~Surrender, Zabuza. Ann is right, you can still back out and be spared.
Zabuza~I could, for her sake, but I'll die eventually anyway. Not to mention I'm in too deep.
Kakashi~I'm sorry, for you and Ann
He charged with his Lightning Blade, however his attack landed in Haku's chest, splattering blood everywhere, including one of his mirrors. Zabuza smirked as the dogs disappeared, and swung his sword across. Kakashi jumped away with Haku, but Ann was there again, forcing Zabuza to pull back again. This time, she had a shallow cut along her stomach.
Ann~How dare you try to cut through Haku!
Zabuza~He was nothing but a tool.
Ann~He loved you too! How could you say that about him?!
Kakashi~Ann, go back. This is my fight.
Ann~Zabuza…Haku could have been with us too…
Zabuza~There's no way now. Haku's gone
He shoved her to the side and continued for Kakashi. Before she could get up to run back, Naruto held her shoulder.
Naruto~Haku's gone…He can't turn back now…
Ann~I couldn't change anything then…

The two looked up when Zabuza's sword slid towards them. A tapping came shortly after.
Naruto~Who are they? There's so many people.
Ann~They're here to kill Zabi…I couldn't save them even if they stopped fighting us...
They saw Gato kick Haku, then they ran forward in anger as Ann grabbed Zabuza's sword. However, they were both stopped when they got close to Kakashi and Zabuza. Ann hit him when he stepped in front of her.
Ann~Zabuza, why don't you do something?!
Naruto~Doesn't he mean anything to you?! You took him in and cared for Ann too, didn't you?! There had to be some meaning!
Zabuza~I took care of her as a favor. Haku had something I wanted. He was useful.
Ann~So you can just throw him away? I bet mom didn't want me to go to the Leaf either then! You just wanted to pawn me off!
She went to hit him again, but then dropped her hand, looking away from him.
Zabuza~Ann...
Ann~I thought you loved us…Why did I come here?...
Gato laughed
gato~Is that your rumored brat?! You look just like her Zabuza, a baby b***h that can't do s**t.
Zabuza growled irritably and chewed off his bandaged mask.
Zabuza~I'm sorry, Ann. In trying to be strong for you I only made an a** of myself, huh, dear? I'll tell them you said hi.
He turned to the blond.
Zabuza~Boy, your kunai. I may as well end this right.
Naruto~Yeah…
Naruto tossed a kunai that he caught in his mouth. Then with a final look to Ann, Zabuza ran off after Gato.
Kakashi~I'm surprised you didn't follow after him.
Ann~Why should I? He doesn't care about me. Or Haku…
Kakashi~If he doesn't, then why is he avenging Haku?
Ann sighed. She took off her sword and stabbed it into the ground. Then she tightened her hold on Kubikiribocho.
Ann~Because my mom would have beaten his sorry stupid ******** dumb a** like a good sister should. I’m sorry sensei.
She ran after him, swinging to make a clear path for herself in the crowd of thugs before jumping ahead of Zabuza to clear the way for him.
Naruto~You heard her say her mom is his sister too, right?
