Who decides what you wear? Have you ever decided to change your style, and if so, why? Have you ever had to stick to a "dress code"?

My sense of style is one of a handful of things that haven't been majorly affected by my self-esteem/self-consciousness issues xd Almost everything in my life is controlled by the fear of what other people think.
This isn't to say I absolutely don't care what people think of the way I dress. I do care. I just don't care NEAR as much as everything else.
I've gone through a lot of different dress codes in my life. I spent 8 years with the Catholic School Girl uniform being my only opition, and after school was spent in "play clothes" that were mostly things my mom made.
Once I got to high school, I was done with Catholic school and the uniforms and I started to develop the style that I mostly still have today. By my senior year of high school, one of my trademark outfits was bright orange polyester pants, a brightly colored shirt that was designed to be worn in clubs (it's got alot of blacklight sensitive color on it) and a black vest that was actually made of PVC material xd I'd wear my hair in these little pigtails with these funky fake hair scruchies and fake hair extensions. It was way awesome xd
For a little while I was really into making changes to my clothes... I learned the art of adding fabric wedges to jeans to make them have really wide leg flares... I've even got a pair that I not only made it a wider flare, I used the fabric to add length to the pants xd I also have a pair of armwarmers that were orginally toe socks (I didn't ever wear them on my feet though xp )
For the longest time, I'd have specific outfits, mostly because I'd buy pants that weren't jeans so they'd only go with a handful of tops. Like the orange pants. I have maybe 5 shirts that go with them xd I've also got a pair of shiny silver vinyl pants xd xd xd I tended to wear outfits that younger kids thought were way cool... my step-sister for example loves my style xd
Once I got to college, I finally got my two dream clothing/accessory items: thigh high rainbow socks and knee high black boots with buckles all over them. I don't wear either much anymore, but I wore them alot in college. They go really well with like, every skirt I own xd And I discovered the joys of skirts over jeans as well. It's a nice way to look cute on a cold day, or to wear a short skirt without being subconscious about my a** hanging out of it xd It's also a simple way to dress up the standard jeans & t-shirt outfit xd
Lately, I've been stuck in a dress code again. From August 05 to last week, I was working at Radio Shack, and I was supposed to wear dress pants and blue or white button up shirts. I deviated from this a bit, mainly because I have nearly an impossible time finding those sort of shirts in my size xd They're all either tailored for larger busted women, or they're fine in that area but way too short. So I'd pretty much wear whatever nice button up shirt I could find in my size xd And now my new job is pretty much the dress code I made up for Radio Shack, so I'm still wearing alot of the same stuff. And I actually like the clothes I wear... they don't feel stuffy or anything, til I get home from work.
Overall, my style is influenced by my love of bright colors, the fact that I like to do my own thing when it comes to clothes, the people I'm surrounded by, and, sadly enough, my body-type. It's just so hard to find clothes that fit me crying Most of the stylish stuff is made for girls who have a larger bust, or who don't have "alot of junk in the trunk" xd xd xd My style ecnompasses alot of other styles: I'll go from something really preppy looking one day to something really punk the next day, to something simple and casual the next day, and feel completely comfortable in any of them. I've drawn some style from the people around me (when I started dating Steve, I ended up with two pair of pants that were basically girly versions of pants he had rofl ) but I really don't think there's anyone else I've ever encountered that dresses anything like I do xd

13 these pants have a funny story attached to them. Originally, I'd just cut a whole bunch of holes in them, and then "closed" the holes up with safety pins. I'd cut up the side, and put safety pins there too. Then one day, a week or so later, I was at Gadzooks and saw a pair of paints with the safety pins up the side like I'd done.
So I took a shirt that I'd bought at Goodwill to use for a play my senior year, and I cut it up and put it together with the pants. I even put the pocket from teh front of the shirt on teh side of the leg so I could still use it as a pocket xd
