Once every 500 years the black moon shines over Dale. The terrible darkness that lasts for a month and the beasts of the night emerge to cleanse the town of life.
On this, the last day of the 499th year the high council was getting and sending their best out to Dale, where they would meet in the local tavern, the Dancing Dragon, under the guise of a caravan transporting ale. It was a perfect plan.
Rydia let out a sigh, brushing her long blonde-brown hair behind her ears, the council had made anyone not currently away go on the mission, even if they were the gifted child of a former council member. Her mother had died, but she had been a council member, and now they were sending her, a mere teenage sorceress, to defend Dale from the undead. Sure, her amulet granted her a great deal of power, and the quest for the mysterious golems who destoryed her home had awakened her inner magis. But...undead? It would be suicide. Her green eyes scanned the caravan, picking out the strange adventurers chosen by the council. She was pretty, and she kept throwing glances at the men in the caravan who kept looking at her, obviously from barbarian tribes.
