Fantasy for today

heart
Wearing the black Onyx necklace,
seeing it fit around my neck,
the dark ebony beads shine
against the color of my skin.
I stare in the mirror longer than normal,
watch another woman in my eyes,
she's firey and brave,
not like me,
she's daring and crazy and mad.
I wonder about the unconscious world,
about what's behind the mirror...

I stare at my face again,
red lips like a vintage dark wine,
california grapes, like the pinot noir...
I think about Santa Barbara,
the ocean waves,
and pearls,
fresh water pearls...
haggling for them in the Chinatown...

I think about the walls in his room,
wallpapered in Chaka Chan let me rock ya,
and Jimi Hendrix..
the "Little Wing" song, he played upon his fingers,
searching for meaning
upon the steel strings of his guitar,

and here I am,
like a gypsy woman,
like a black magic woman,
like a seashell,
like a Venice trip to Italy,
like Jazz
and Bird
and song,

I return in the early morning
to the aquamarine,
feet pressed against the sand..
salt rim of a margarita glass
upon the smells of the ocean....
waves rolling,
San Francisco Bay,
he's not holding my hand.
I left him in the Berkeley hills,
On top of the three bays at large,
he's still looking for the pocket ace..
with his face in the poker table....

deep sighs....
The waters are deep,
they run deep
they search for the meaning for me.
I look straight into it,
it's too cold.
I'm too cold,
that was cold,
leaving him.....

and so,
I stare into the waters,
watch the mad woman
she's not soo mad afterall,
she's deeply mysterious,
she's interesting,
she's better off having a bowl of clam chowder with
the computer geek.
