I woke up in a dark room, I could only see about three feet in front of me, which was enough to tell that some one had tied my legs with red tine and stollen my shoes. My hands were bound behind my back, and was leaned against a sort of pillar. The concrete grounf was cold, even through the legs on my jeans I could feel it. I looked around and saw pretty much nothing. "Where am I?" I whispered. My own echo came to reply. "Shh! He'll hear you!" A child's voice whispered in raspy fear "Who'll hear me?" I asked as softly as I could, but still being sure who ever could hear me. "I'll hear you." A deep man's voice answered. Not a whisper but plain speaking. A tall figure stepped just close enough for me to distinguish an outline. A tall muscular man. "Why am I here? Who are you?" I began to plead for answers. "Stop talking." The man commanded. I shirked back at the tone of his words, fearing I'd be hit. "You are here because I brought you here. And I am Howell." "Howell." I whspered, trying to recall where I had heard that name. "I am," "I know who you are." Howell inturrupted. "You know?" "Of coarse I do. I won't have chosen to take you had I not seen any benifit in it." "Chosen? What benifit is there in taking me!?" My voice grew louder and my echo grew harsher. "Now, now Rin." The man stepped into my sight. He kneeled down next to me and smiled maliciously. "Watch that temper my dear." A shiver of terror filled me. I looked at him, trying to recall him. His glass grey eyes shone wth the little bit oflight that was in the room. She black baggy clothes hung off him stylishly, each item belted on with one sort of a strap or anther. his platinum hairhung around his face graceully, like set in stone to look the way it did. "You act scared?" "I'm not scared." I defended. "Good, becasue you have no reason to be afraid. I don't intend to hurt you." "But smacking me on the head and tying me up are ok?" I growled. "Now I am sure you understand that those were just precaustions. I couldn't have you screaming all the way here. And the last thing I need is for you to have started running around blindly looking for a way out." "You are smarter that I guessed." I muttered. "A compliment and an insult all in the same breath. How charming." Howell smiled, but not an eerie smile, a calm smile. I simply scoffed. "I'll untie you if you promise not to run? Do we have a deal?" "Fine." I whispered, desperate to stand up and move around. He untied my hands first, being careful not to hurt me. Then he untied my feet as I rubbed the skin on my hurting wrists. "I'm sorry, had I tied them too tight?" "What do you care." I growled. I was scared, but masking it with snide remarks and angry backlash. "I said I don't want to hurt you." I pulled myself to my feet and glared at him sheepishly. It was silent aside from the hard eating of my heart and the ragged sounds of my breathing. "Would you like something to eat?" "I already ate. But I am sure you know that." I said in a hard voice as I thought back to the meal by the lakeshore. "I know, I am just trying to be polite." "I heard another person here earlier. Who was that?" I said in a rapid way. "My other... guest. Erin." Howell pointed to a boy who was chained to the wall. The boy looked ragged and weak. My face must have revealed my disgust, because Howell came to my side and whispered in my ear. "He tried to run. I had no choice. Had he managed to escape, my location would be revealed. And we can not have that happening." "No, we can not." I muttered. "Let's go get some drink. Shall we?" Howell's voice seemed to entrance me, wasn't scared or angry, I was just cold, numb so to speak. We wandered about the dark area, me following him. He stopped in the center of a warm chamber. "Lights." He muttered enchantingly. The lights flickered on instantly.
