Timid Jacky's
Bravery
A children’s book
There once was a young creature named Jack, or Jacky as some friends called him. He lived in the clouds with other creatures called cloud swimmers.
Jacky was happy with his friends and family.
One day Jacky’s friends decided to leave the safety of their white and fluffy home, but Jacky wasn’t sure about it.
Jacky’s friend, John, told him, “Don’t be so scared. It’s just to go see what is under the clouds.” Then Jacky said, “What if something bad happens?”
“Are you scared,” Said Paul, who’s blue stripes shined in the sunlight. “Little timid Jacky. Ha! Figures,” He said, in a mean way.
This made Jacky a little angry. “I’m not scared! I just don’t think it’s a good idea to go down there.”
John teased him a bit by saying, “If you’re not scared then come with us.” Jacky’s friends were laughing all the while.
Soon, they made Jacky follow, but he didn’t like it. They went through the clouds and to the ground, which was a long field of grass.
“Paul, John, I don’t think we should be here,” Jacky said, getting scared.
Paul laughed, but John tried to make Jacky feel better. “There’s nothing here. It’s fine.” “Okay…” said Jacky with a nod.
For a long time, the three just explored this new place.
There were trees,
There were flowers,
And there were rocks. Jacky had ever seen such things up close up before and he really liked them.
Just then, Paul came up with an idea. “Hey, we should play tag!” John nodded with a yes and Jacky slowly nodded, too. Since Paul wanted to and John said yes first, that meant that Jacky was it.
Paul and John ran and ran, knowing that Jacky could never catch them. He was the slowest of the three. “Timid Jacky is slow, too!” Said Paul as he laughed.
Stopping and breathing hard, Jacky called out, “Aw, come on guys!” But that didn’t seem to do much
John looked behind them and laughed a little, until he bumped into Paul, who was standing stiff.
Something made a shadow over them and they were scared. John spoke with a small tremor, “W-what is that?” Paul was only able to respond by shaking his head slowly.
They quickly ran towards Jacky, who watched them run off. When he turned his head to find what they were running from, all he saw was a large cow.
Jacky had seen cows from his home in the clouds and he knew that they were nice things.
He slowly floated up to the cow with a smile on his face. “Hi. I’m Jacky. Who are you?” The cow only said, “MoOoOooo,” and this left Paul and John shocked.
For hours they play with their new spotted friend, but soon it was time to go.
They said good-bye and flew back up into the clouds. They’d be back again.
When they were home and safe Jacky’s friends cheered. “You were so brave!” Exclaimed Paul. “That was really cool!” Shouted John.
Jacky smiled and he was happier than ever before. From then on they never teased Jacky about being timid ever again.
