So.
Today in French, we discussed, "What is thinking?"
And, I of course, had a few things to say.
And, I of course, didn't say them out loud.
So, I'll type them for you to read.
Since I wrote my own thoughts down while we discussed a little kid and multiplication.
Oo'
(This starts off in the middle of the discussion.)
Can these mechanical thought patterns really be called "thinking"?
Shouldn't thinking be abstract, and not just of our current knowledge?
We should be able to "think" about things we don't know to expand our minds.
Creativity and imagination are the keys.
Not monotonous, "shut up and follow the formula" patterns.
Sure, patterns are nice.
Patterns are all around us, but they constrict us, and we don't even know.
They bind us.
And they don't allow us to escape.
They allow us to learn by repetition, and grow in mental capacity.
They take us to places we can only dream of going.
But for what?
They turn us into robots.
Patterns turn us into the ones that feed us the patterns.
How did you learn to solve 4x-4=12?
By a pattern.
By steps.
By repetition.
First, you subtract 4 on both sides of the equal sign.
Then, you divide both sides by 4, and you get your answer.
You show that to your mother and she pats you on the back.
"Good job, dear."
Would you rather be imaginative and loved?
Or would you rather work like a dog in a job you hate, and never get to show the world your creativity, your imagination; you?
Patterns are great.
They help us everyday, and you might not even know that.
But you can't live like that for the rest of your life.
Break away from the everyday.
Take a seat and think.
Let your mind soar, and delve deep into some subject you never imagined you'd enjoy.
Don't become another robot of society.
You can't be brilliant if you're a robot.
