Ranting about Gaia mostly, why? Cause I can't talk about real life
So I came for the Halloween event...
Later on, if I bother with it I might post my ideas how the event could have been done differently and still been fun. You know, no lag, same features, less problems. It's possible, but I'm kinda wondering if there'd be any point to giving my ideas or feedback (even in the forum). Every year it's the same thing with the same problems.

How long does it really take you to learn your lesson that it doesn't work this way? I mean, yes, it does work if you fight your way through it, but how is that fun? In an hour of laggy frustration I barely got any aliens/cows or whatnot. It was all spam as well, where's the fun in "COWS/ALIENS/HUMANS HERE"?

I laughed however when I read some things today, so here's a few good ones:
Quote:
Several admins spent a LOT of their time last night-time after the working day was done and they could have been out partying with their friends-to fix the servers that were overwhelemed by nearly 60,000 people at once clicking and clicking and clicking to 'get the items as fast as possible.'

They told people to invite their friends, and then got swamped by a massive overload of people? Gee, never would have saw that coming. "Rush as fast as you can to get them before someone else does!" Couldn't imagine how that would cause spam or lag.

Encouraging spam is a recipe for server failure + large costs of bandwidth. This money comes from donations, as they so often need to point out. 'We're not rich, we survive off donated money. And at the same time we encourage wasteful use of resources.'

I can understand your frustration with server errors and glitches, but that is why Gaia is a free economy-so that if you DON'T have the time to sit for hours and click, you can pay people with Gaia's imaginary currency for the items so that they have compensation for the time they DID spend doing the event.

Yes, because everyone loved the amount of work they had to put into it to get 4 measly items.

I'm sure I'm not the only one who tries to click to zap or probe, and it's already been done so - then I have to wait 30 seconds, and if I see one, by the time that 30 seconds is up, it's already been zapped or probed.
I'm not gonna keep searching hundreds of threads just for the slight chance that a cow hasn't been tipped yet.

Lame.

As I said, I have a bunch of ideas how it could have been done in a similar way that wouldn't spam up the forums and waste time and money. And I'm sorry, but I don't see how rushing to get there before the other guy is "fun." The entire event forum is the same as previous years--spam spam spam. After three years don't you have any better ideas? Perhaps next year I'll suggest mine in June so you have plenty of time to think ahead.

And, to keep this from being a solely negative post, here's something good I read. It was a thread about "Why can't we be as skinny as the aliens?"

Ninina
Being deadly thin is only pretty in the eyes of people with body image disorders.

ALL UR DISORDERS ARE BELONG TO US

Well, to America at least.
