So here I am, sitting in a corner of the library on campus when I had a thought about something.When I was learning about conformity not too long ago in Social Psychology, it says that everyone conforms at least one point in their lives, and usually it's around teenager-dom. That lead me to a thought about today's teenagers
The complaint of many teenagers is that they want to be unique (most anyway), or feel like they have to be popular so they start copying the more popular/preppy (whatever you want to call them) people. And around the ages of 13-17 maybe all the way to 19, teenagers argue with their parents, try to rebel, break rules, yadda yadda yadda.
The thought that occured to me was this: many teenagers in the last at least 20 years have had pre-marital sex than further back in history. That's something everyone knows because we'll hear about the bragging person, or see the idiot who got pregnant, got an STD, etc. Did anyone stop to think that maybe pre-marital sex is becoming a conforming thing? Many teenagers do things because "everyone else is doing it", or they feel that they have to "be unique" by saying that they "love" the person that's ******** them (or the other way around I guess), or the excuse is that the person in question is being "rebel". Drugs are the same way (minus the ********), so both are indeed conforming factors in society
Now, I'm not saying all teenagers are like this, but it's something that occured to me when I hear about all the pregnancies and ruined lives lately in high school (same thing happened at mine, only the pregnant could stay at that school until they had the baby, unlike other schools around here that only let you stay until you begin to "show" wink .
It's just something I was thinking about. Don't like my thinking? TOUGH LUCK!

I agree with it too...
Even though myself being in my mid-teens would argue that I'm not one of those people, but the fact is whether we like it or not in someway I have conformed, I'm not a rebel I have problems with my parents and we argue from time to time, but I'm not doing drugs or smoking behind their back or anything (I drink on occations; such as Christmas/ New Years but that's a glass of whine)
The truth of the matter is I've become more like older people because that's who I enjoy hanging around, Like your self and my parents or my parents friends, or my friends older siblings. So I've choose the better rout rather than choosing to be popular or fit in, by having the guidence of much older people who've already gone through my stage in life I've choosen a better route than many people I know
Plus I've become a stubburn smart a** x)
Not a good thing but it's still Me not a prep worried about my looks or how other people view me.
And I think if everyone had everyone I do they'd realize they're already unique and don't have to change because if they immitate someone else they're no longer unique they're like someone else...
