Sunset Journal
The sun sinks silently behind the clouds until the sky turns the red of life's blood. This journal will be about nothing, probably...
A Change in Colors
Fall's here, and the trees are changing. It's starting to get cold and sometimes wet and unpleasant.

I just felt like posting about something in my journal, really. I haven't posted since July. I usually end up talking about my marketplace exploits, too.

What else is there to talk about, after all?

Yesterday I got into a slight debate a gal who's trying to get the ISD updated, running a thread called the Gaian Item Project. Well, more than that. She was completely against repeat suggestions, but she wanted people to make suggestions in this other thread she had in SF that was basically advertising the main GIP thread. (Oh, found the thread in question.)

The ISD does need to be updated. It's been abandoned for, what, at least a year now. It was pretty helpful for users - and I'm sure it helped the admins out too.

But my problem was with how controlling she was trying to be. No repeat suggestions - even though SF's R&G sticky specifically allows them. Reading the GIP thread, she doesn't even want to include angelic/demonic weapon suggestions. A staff with demonic wings on the end, despite what she says, is not just a staff, and what's wrong with a nitemare gun?

People should be able to suggest whatever the heck they want however many times they want. If she finds looking through repeat suggestions so annoying, maybe she shouldn't be trying to be in control of an up-to-date item list. Repeat suggestions are an integral part of the IST, since a suggestion often repeated is one that the admins know more people want.

Eh... what the hell. If the GIP just ends up with the ISD getting updated without having her control the updates, I'll be happy. I do like the idea behind the project, I just don't agree with her methods. But the ISD really, really needs updating.

On a side note, she must have never thought about the project title's acronym. I mean, GIP? It means "a swindle or fraud." It's funny.
