"I'm all alone... there's no one here beside me..."
"Give it a rest, Dax."
"My problems have all gone..."
"I SAID SHUT UP!!"
They were bored. All three of them. It was cold, too, and being stuck in a cell with a stone floor didn't help. Daxter had taken to singing, while Jak continued his pacing, and Vadri would ponder the infinite, throwing the occasional not-so-respectful remark at Daxter.
"Fine, I'll sing something else..." He began to sing in a high-pitched voice: "Gotta make a move to a town that's right for me~ Gotta keep me movin' keep me groovin' with some energy~ Talk about, talk about, talk about mo-ovin'..."
"Oh my GOD! Does he EVER shut up?!"
"No," Jak said. "Believe me, he doesn't." He sat down next to Vadri, equally annoyed with Daxter's singing.
"Dah dadah~ Won't you take me to~ Dah dadah~ Funkytown~ Dah dadah~ Won't you take me to~ Dah dadah~ Funkytown..."
Jak and Vadri sat in awed silence as Daxter began doing a 60's Disco move to accompany his singing.
"Won't you take me down~ To Funkytown..."
"Sing something else, Dax," Jak said.
"Alrighty... um... 'Cuz you're everywhere to me~ and when I close my eyes it's you I see..."
"NOT THAT!!" Vadri yelled. "Sing something decent, if you must sing."
Jak laughed. "And what would you consider to be decent? Perform for us, Vadri."
She rolled her eyes and stood up. She cleared her throat dramatically, then held up her hand like she was holding a microphone.
"I cannot find a way to describe it,
It's there, inside, all I do is hide
I wish that it would just go away
What would you do? I don't think you'd understand,
'Cuz no one understands...
All the pain, I thought I knew,
All the thoughts lead back to you
Back to what is never said,
Back and forth inside my head..."
She went on, but when she was at the chorus for the second time, she cut herself off as she noticed the man from day one standing there watching. "Oh, erm..." she blushed. "I didn't, uh, know anyone else was watching..."
"Nice performance," he said, clapping. "Did you write that yourself?"
"No, Avril Lavigne did..."
"Who?"
"Never mind," she said.
He laughed slightly, but then turned and left. "Only four more days," he said over his shoulder. "Only four more days."
