Shin was the son of 'The Demon' and Ray was the son of one of the 10 holy priests. In this world, there were 10 main priests in charge of babtising and eliminating demons. Ray and Shin still promised their friendship, and promised that they would never hurt each other no matter what happens, despite their positions. But as Shin's power grew as the demon king, more and more people became frightened, that one day Shin would break the promise of peace in destroy mankind. So in secret to Ray, the people sent assasins to kill Shin.
After killing the assasins, Shin was enraged. He thought that Ray had broken his promise. He collected troups and declared war. Ray, figuring out what had happened, tried to explain what had been happening. But Shin was too enraged to listen, so war began.

After 5 years of long fighting, it was the final battlefield. Ray was put to a position where he could kill Shin. But he couldn't. Instead he chose a path to seal Shin. That is how Shin's hatred grew, and Ray chose a quiet life in the castle.
