It was Tuesday morning and I was getting ready for school, when I saw Ariel (my best friend) walking down the pathway to the front door. I pulled on my shirt, grabbed my backpack, ran to the stairs and jumped over railing on to the floor. I ran to the door and opened it before Ariel did. “Wow! 9 seconds, you beat your old record by half a second, you shame yourself! ”Ariel laughed. “Well…you try running with the shock from jumping over the railing, in your feet! I said sarcastically then started laughing.
“Well I guess I should try then.”
“Yes that would be good.”
There was along silence between us on the way to school until Ariel broke it, ”So do your feet still hurt?” She asked and this time she was laughing until tears came out of her eyes.
“Shut up!” I smiled and pushed her on the grass so she bumped into someone.
“Oh! I’m sor….”She looked up and her eyes widened ”Aaron!” Aaron was Ariel’s boyfriend since the 10th grade. Their lips locked in one of those friendly hello sweaty, kisses. Aaron’s friend Ryan was standing behind him not saying a word. I had a secret crush on him that only Ariel new about. “Oh yah, Miley, I forgot to tell you, Kara has been spreading a rumor about you, she’s saying that you’re a lesbian.” Aaron said, sweating a little bit.
“WHAT!” I yelled almost bursting a vein in my head. ”Where is she? I said cracking my knuckles.
“In the queen’s castle.” Ryan said and everybody stared at him and then he shrugged.
“Thanks.”
Ryan nodded. I knew what he was talking about, he meant the bathroom. I was so mad that I didn’t even care that everybody’s eyes were staring at me, including Ryan’s. I thought I heard Ariel screaming not to do anything drastic but I didn’t listen I just ran. When I got to the bathroom I slammed the door open. Kara and her “posse” looked at me with shock. Kara saw my cold stare and shuddered then said “Hey look girls it’s the lesbo!” they all snickered. I clutched my hands so tight that blood started dripping from my fingers. Before I knew it I started saying something in a different language, I think it was Greek. When looked up I saw air pounding in her stomach so I didn’t stop repeating it until the bell rang. “If you say anything about what happened you’ll wish you hadn’t!” I yelled then ran out the door. When I wasn’t looking I accidentally bumped in to Ariel, Aaron, and Ryan. “What did you do?” Ariel asked looking in the bathroom. And she saw Kara on the floor holding her stomach with her posse around her then she turned to stare at me then saw my bloody hands. I grabbed her arm, drug her back and signaled the boys to wait there. “What’s up?” she asked. “Ok… when I was in the bathroom I got really mad and I started saying something in a different language and before I knew it she was be punched in the stomach by air! I said franticly.
“Wow! Hey, maybe you’re a witch!”
“Not funny. Ill ask my mom, maybe she knows what’s going on.”
“Yah, well come on we’ll be late for class.”
So they caught up with the boys and walked to class together. ”Oh yah, I forgot we had that crazy teacher that’s obsessed with magic and stuff, again.” I stated.
“Oh that’s right.” Ryan said looked over at me smiling. “Well, it is a class on myths, magic and legends.” I blushed softly and looked away. Ariel glanced over her shoulder to look at me and pulled Aaron’s shirt. He peeked over at me then to Ryan, smiling. He pulled Ariel closer to him to kiss her on the forehead. Right when the bell rung, we walked through the door. “You’re late!” said Mr. Morris, our teacher. “WHAT? By a second maybe, but that’s just bull.” I said angrily to him.
“You’re still late.”
“I still think its bull.”
“I don’t care just sit down.”
I mumbled to myself and sat down. Ryan sat on the left of me, Ariel sat on the right, and Aaron sat next to Ariel.
“Ok, today class we’ll be continuing on witches. Now, I hope at least one you knows an air manipulation spell.” Mr. Harris said impatiently. ”Whoever knows one just come up here and right one down.” everybody looked at each other. I remembered the thing that I said in the bathroom, so I stood up and walked to the board and wrote down what I remember. ”Very good.” said Mr. Harris “I didn’t know you knew any. How did you learn it?”
“I have my ways.” I blinked at Ariel and she smiled back. When Harris turned around Ryan passed me a note that said: meet me on the side of the gym at lunch
I blushed and wrote back: what for, and gave it back to him. Then the bell rang. But when I got to the door he whispered in my ear ”It’s a secret” then walked away smiling. Ariel came up to me and said, ”If you weren’t listening in class, Mr. Morris said that witches learn about their powers the day before their 17th birthday. See so maybe you are a witch.”
“Yah maybe, but I don’t know for sure so I have to check with my mom like I said” I promptly said.
“Whatever! Well come your making us late.”
“ME? You’re the one who stopped me!”
“I was joking.”
“Oh.”
“Well come ooooonnnn!”
