***Warning, contemplating this is what drove me insane***
Okay, so from a scientific standpoint there is no God.
If the universe is, indeed infinite, then all things must exist within it. Which means that the concept of non existance must exist as well. However, if non existance exists, that means that something DOESN'T exist. If something doesn't exist, then not all things exist. However, if the thing that doesn't exist is non existance itself, then non existance DOES exist, even though it doesn't. Even if something else doesn't exist, say God to go with science, that means that the universe cannot be infinite, as there is something that doesn't exist within it. If the universe in not infinite, that means it has a beginning and end somewhere. Or else it loops back on itself. Now, if one were to travel into space far and long enough, this means they would either reach the end of the universe, or end up back where they started. What would be at the universe's end? The possibilites are endless, which means that, technically, the universe IS infinite, provided that it has an end. Perhaps another universe begins where ours ends, but in that case is it technically not one universe in the same way a patch on a quilt is just one part of a larger whole? In that case the end of our universe is NOT the end of the universe, and we must conclude that the end of the universe isnt at the end of the universe. The best option to go with is the looping universe theory, but in what way does it loop? Is it a sphere? If it is a sphere, what happens when you try to travel off of/into the sphere? Where does it go? What about a cylindrical universe? In that case not only could you travel into or off of the universe, but also off one end or the other. If you can travel off of or into the sphere/cylindar of the universe, then where would you be? Again you'd be forced to conclude that the possibilites of what exist BEYOND the universe are endless, and thus the universe, even though it would have to be finite, must also be infinite.
But! What if no matter WHAT direction you traveled, you'd end up in the same place (eventually?) I can't even comprehend what this would mean. Perhaps the universe is inside out in some way? What does that mean anyway? How is it possible for every direction to loop in on itself? Where going up puts you at the bottom, going right puts you to the left, and going forward puts you at the back? Perhaps the "end" of the universe is actually some substance that absorbs you and spits you back out on the opposite side instantaniously. What could that substance be? So called Chaos? What is chaos made of? Is it an actual substance? Where did it come from, and how can it exist outside of the universe?
Alright I need to stop thinking about this, its making my head hurt. You guys contemplate it for a while lol
