Homans... I hate seeing people fall for the beta testing scam. A user with a name similar to a previous scammer who successfully ripped off a few users has appeared. Someone saw it today and that it had a shadow avatar. Unfortunately, actions cannot be taken untill the user attempts to scam someone.
I understand the logic behind it, but it's still a little frustrating. It's likely someone may be scammed out of their gold/items. The only consolation to these users is that they still seem to be able to log into their accounts. But cheaters like this just ruin the fun for other users.
But I thought about it for a while, knowing I can do something without banning a user who hasn't done anything yet.
Having been a tester for both towns and new profiles, I can tell you that only one account will ever contact you if you are selected to test some new feature for Gaia. That account is admin. admin has an orange name and has the user ID of 2. If you're asked to test something out by admin and you're uncertian, just check the profile. If the ID number at the end of the url is anything other than 2, someone is trying to scam you. The number is just 2. Nothing longer than that. admin's registration date is 02/18/2003 (or 2/19 depending on what your timezone is set to).
Now to get this info out beyond my journal. D:
