Rantings.
I haven't utilised this thing in more time than I care to remember. After going through and deleting all of my old posts, I realised my last one was from a little over a year ago. Phew, don't I feel old.

Although today, a user really did make me feel like I was here too long. They kept trying to insist that the games came first, then the forum, because the admins wanted the games to get publicity.

Wait, what?

Those of you who remember, I beseech you: Tell me I'm not crazy for remembering a time when all there was to do was post and poll whore? When fishing came out, it was like BAM! and users realised how darned good the creative forces in play were at making flash games. Isn't that how it went? It's the other way around: The FORUMS came first, then the GAMES to help give less post-loving people something to do.

I can remember those Sushi errors. D: And when Gaia would be 'Down for maintenence' like half the day because of the overload of users. And how hectic Hallowe'en 2K4 was. So much up-and-down, lag-full time for eveyone because of the massive influx of users who wanted to be part of the first real major, user-participating event. And the participation only climbed.

And when I say things like that to new users, - or rather to ignorant, disrespectful new users, since not all are bad - they usually go "LOL NUH-UH. CUZ GAIA IZ SPOSED TO HAV LOTS OF PEEPS." Well, back then, 20,000 users at a time was pretty big. Not like now, at 10:48 at night, and there's still 45,603 users on. My, how Gaia has grown.

I can only speculate what further months will bring. I almost miss the old, glitched system we had. It was much more close-knit, or so it felt, and it took real devotion to even want to put up with it and go on with using the site instead of just giving up.

But I guess I'm just a mid-2004 Gaian talking. I'm sure the 2003ers have me beat down pat with thier own stories of how Halos were like 20k. Best I can say is I can remember when Winged Anklets were 8k and Ninja Headbands were 10k. After all, I did grow up believing Pluto was a planet, but now, as of Tuesday, it is no more. It's just a 'Dwarf.' Not a planet.

It's so disheartening when I'm still so young. What sort of changes will there be? I wonder how my father would take it, since he went over 50 years thinking that. When Gaia gets old, and things change (as they inevitably will) I hope that newbies will even believes tales like that 20k Halo and 10k Headband. And the days when you needed to memorize the server names to even change your avatar or sometimes even load a page.

But again:who knows.
