Kai is born from an influential family, one that chooses an heir to rule over its financial empire, and one that takes care of the family shrine. It is said that the Suzuki clan was born with spiritual abilities to cleanse spirits, and usually it is the female heir who is chosen to be the miko of the family shrine, while the son takes over the family business. Due to certain circumstances, being the one with higher spiritual abilities, Kai was chosen to be the one who succeeded the ownership of the shrine, while his younger brother, Riku, was chosen to take on the family business. He is content with the life that he has, living alone in the shrine (well, not alone, but yeah, it's a shrine), away from the main family who lives in a city a far distance away.

Kai is a calm person, and also Hikaru's best friend since they were 11. He is always cool and collected, at peace with himself, always offering a comforting smile and a helping hand when needed. Very grown up for his age, perhaps due to responsibilities he carry, he is like the big brother to his friends. He has some troubles with his real little brother, Riku, but he deeply cares for him.

Kai's preferred weapon is his spiritual power in a form of a sword with a large blade (imagine Sanosuke's huge a** blade from RK) Even though he looks frail and weak, he can wield the sword with no problem as it is spiritual energy his strength and abilities are high.

He often wears his long hair loose, not bothering to hide his slight feminine look because he has, after all, taken on a sort of female role in the family status. However, his family doesn't shun him. In fact, they hold him in high regard for his powers.
