They're working on it. Do you want it to come out Half-a** Gay Looking/ Or do you want it to Come out Right & Good Looking. Programming things aren't Easy. It takes time to make sure it comes out Right.
So it makes me wonder why we waited and waited for new mouths and got this:

It's amazing isn't it! I thought the people who did the designing on this site were professional artists but they continually prove me wrong. The two open mouth styles are so insanely stupid I can't even get over it.
Notice how they sort of sound similar? "Do you want something to be rushed and end up looking half-assed?" and "The new mouths are a joke!"
So what happened here? I saw at least one thread where a guy had made a versatile new mouth that worked on both the male and female avatars. It seems like all the new designs are cheap. Straight lines? 4 dots? Huge, stupid looking smiles? Come on guys, amatuer artists can do better. The basic mouths can be done in MS Paint in a minute. What happened? Were you really rushed somehow? Is that possible when we've been waiting for months and months?
I seriously do not understand how this happened when we asked for better ones, all we got was new cheap ones. It's unprofessional.
