i hate interpreting bad omens
there are only two results
either i'm paranoid
or the universe is out to get me
are these portents of doom
bogeymen invented in the
a shadowy projection of the self?
or cast by something calamitous before me?
i hate superstitious thinking
it seems presumptions
that the universe has the time to speak of me
or that i know it well enough to understand it
catastrophe is not seen in
a group of blackbirds
or a cracked glass
it is found in a lingering cough
an overdue bill
life building up around you
as unfitted tetris blocks
caged in by
bad fortune
and missed opportunities
