I still don't fish much anymore, but I do enough that my stats are going up.
I fish only with D bait now since it's the lowest level that rares are always caught at. After too many times with F bait, the catches suck and there's no chance for rares at all. I'm aiming to catch a diamondback of any kind or a mutha guppa or a candy striper for myself.
