Fire damage
I'm going to die in a fire someday. The walls will be crashing down, smoke seeping into the rooms, flames curling around my belongings, and I will be lying in bed thinking, 'Could someone please turn that dang alarm off? I'm trying to sleep.'

I think alarms are supposed to strike, well, alarm into the person hearing it. I'VE GOTTA GET OUT RIGHT NOW OR I'M GOING TO DIE!! In me, though, they only strike disdain. A whole, 'oh, great, now I've got to go out in the freezing cold' type attitude. As a result, I tend to ignore the alarm or take my time getting dressed and putting contacts in. 'I just have to read this one last page, then I swear I'm going.'

The whole problem is that drills are bad for your health. It's like car alarms. There was a time when those were first created when every time the alarm went off, people were like, 'Someone's breaking into a car! Better call the police!' Now, it's, 'Oh, not again. Can that person turn their stupid alarm off?' The fire thing's the same way. The alarm goes off several times a semester, and occasionally, as in today's case, twice in 24 hours, but there's never's a fire. What reason do I have to believe that this time there will be a fire? Or next time?

So, yes. Eventually, in the far, far future, there will be a fire, and I will brave it out to the very end, lying in bed, thinking it's a drill.
