This distant feeling..

I could try to explain-
how the beat of my heart has slowed.

I could try to rest just a while longer.

But most of all-
I could try to listen to what is being felt.

A small delicate voice is asking me this.

Why do you sleep for so long?
Why do you pain and struggle?

To where are you hiding in the dark?
From what are you crying?

A far off voice then answers.

I am tried, I must rest a while longer.
I am burdened, so I strain.

I hide to protect that which is dear.
I cry because I cannot change this.

I must rest a while longer, if only to ease the strain.
I mustn't cry for to long, thus be broken again.

That sad cold feeling-
A distant feeling..
