For the last 48 hours my buddy Steve and I have been working, driving, jamming and rocking out across Kentucky and Ohio. Well, It's probably been more than 48 hours by now, but whatever.
It all started Thursday when we took off work to drive up to Columbus, Ohio for a Bullets and Octane concert. The drive took about 3~4 hours, suppose that's alright for a 200 mile or so trip. Venue was "The Basement", it was small, cramped and perfect for the show. Most other shows I've been to have had a barrier splitting the crowd from the stage, here however the stage was slightly raised and we could reach out and touch 'em if we wanted.
The two opening bands were Damone and Valiant ( might've been Valient ) Thorr. Both were good in there own ways. Damone had some killer guitar solos and very heavy riffs, but the singer was a girl and gave some of the songs a pop-ish sound. She was also sick so that might've had something to do with it.
Thorr was alright. Very heavy, but a little on the political side, not really to my tastes. I generally like my music politics free.
Bullets and Octane simply rocked the house. The don't have many songs out so we got to hear just about every song they do have, very sweet. They really get into the show, talk to the crowd, encouraging all the stupid s**t that concerts usually have. The singer has a tendency to sling water on the crowd though, so if you don't wanna get wet, stay away from the front.
After the show was the real treat though. Steve and I got to hang out with Bullets for an hour afterwards, we got some pretty cheeeel stuff too. Got some posters signed, got drumsticks signed by the band and just got to chil out with 'em. Then they told us they were coming to Kentucky the very next day, which would've cut our travel time in half. So naturally, we told them we'd be at that show too. XD
So Steve and I came home. We practically flew, only took about 3 hours for that trip. So all in all we traveled 400+ miles for like 7~8 hours. Saw a rocking show and meet some pretty down to earth cats.
Friday was pretty uneventful. Did some yard work, and I didn't have to go to work because of the Kentucky Oaks Race ( The Race the female horses run in the Derby ), and once the yard work was finished I meet up with Steve again pretty much right after he got off work and we bolted to Covington to see Bullets play again. lol
After a relatively shorter drive and some shitty Google map direction we get to the venue like 10 minutes before the first band comes up. Gene Louis, Bullets and Octane's singer sees us walk in "Heeeey, you made it." he says. We felt bad for Bullets because most of the people there were just friends of the first band, who were pretty good but I can't remember the name. Something like Illegal in Vegas. But after they finished, most of 'em bolted, then Damone, Thorr and Bullets played. Cinco de Mayo happened to be the Bassist's birthday so the crowd sang the birthday song, which was pretty funny. Again, the show was ******** awesome and we got to chil with the band some more. I got them to sign my copies of both their albums on the cover. cool
They invited us both for a drink, but alas being 18 makes it illegal for us to drink in a bar. sad
But seriously, they're some pretty cool dudes and you should check 'em out.
If you ever want to hear some of their stuff just call me if you know my number, or IM me if you have that. Just know my internet has been ******** up pretty badly the last week or so.

Sometimes it can feel so good to walk away from the straight and narrow path.
It can be good to be a stray.
