*shrug* I think he was being a jerk and I called him on it. Maybe I'm a hypocrite, but I just didn't like his attitude about it and the reason he used for not liking it, because... honestly... I had to doublecheck to make sure we were talking about the same avatar.

And y'know, I kinda sympathize with his problem over someone copying his name and someone else's avatar... but gee, if you going to keep winning on fame alone, then others are going to try to reflect some of that fame onto themselves. rolleyes I don't think I bothered posting in his thread though, because I mean, what could I say?

I did think it was dumb/rude/tactless of other users to say he was overreacting, because it looked awfully damn suspicious to me, and I'd certainly ask around if I ran into someone doing it to me or a friend of mine. But what can we do? There are legitmate "similar avatars by accident" incidents, after all. It's hard to make a rule specific enough to smackdown the copiers but vague enough to keep the coincidences safe.

*sigh* The drama is so stupid though, yeah. It should be perfectly fine and acceptable to think the avatar is trash but the person is great, but no, since people identify so strongly with their avatars, if you hate their look then you MUST hate them too! rolleyes

I've been seeing a lot of the "I think it's great and if you don't agree with me, then you're stupid" attitude... People can't seem to accept differing opinions, and it doesn't help that the people with those different opinions rarely seem to express them in a non-inflamatory manner.

oh, I know ray. frankly i'm not sure what i would have said so i didn't say anything. I mean, I really, really dislike the guy and I'm sick of seeing him around. and I think the avatar he was trashing was fantastic even by HIS standards, so i don't understand why he didn't like it... but right after saying I didn't like an avatar that did, to many other people, look lovely.. i couldn't stomach attacking him.

and that whole mess, that's something else entirely. i thought it was ridiculous. because you're right, there IS nothing we can do, not unless it's SO totally clear with an admission of guilt, like in the case of isaviel's avatar theif. and y'know, he's a jerk and i don't think i'd have helped him out with that anyway. xP i'm sure he has enough cronies and fans to take care of that without calling us in on it.

and.. yeah. i wish people didn't take disliking avatars so personally. i mean for one thing, whether an avatar is "good" or not is SO subjective, but people just can't understand that. you can say that an avatar matches objectively (unless k!ng is around i guess xP) or that it's an accurate cosplay or a clever theme or whatever, but you can't say, absolutely, that an avatar is "bad." because i'm sure someone out there likes it. it just doesn't work that way. and whether or not one likes an avatar has nothing nothing NOTHING to do with the creator x_____x; that goes both ways as well. i really like some avatars but truly dislike the person who made them. that's just how it goes.

i thought about making a thread in the AVA about this whole dur you dont like my av I HATE YOU FOREVER thing, but, it'd probably be too preachy and not accomplish anything, so I whine in my journal instead.
