Huh?
'Nuff said about my snap judgement there. Moving right along...

The Newest Staff Member
The Sun Staff functions similar to the staffs before it. I say similar because the way the first pair worked I liked. This new kid on the block has some tricks up its shaft that should make the other staffs envious.

But it doesn't.

While the overall design of the staff itself is nice even with the "held out with two hands" pose of the first pair, the additional modes are questionable. The first of the two pairs of modes is on the back. This makes the wearer look like they are missing several other parts of a headdress that was suppose to be elaborate. It's fixable with a few choice hats and crowns like the Pheonix Circlet. Mask mode on the other hand? Let's say I've seen better designs from a theme park.

Both of these modes include a Sunburst Mode, which as the name implies means you get a nice solar beam coming out off the top of your head! Where have I seen this before? Oh yeah! Religion!

That's right, while it may not be a Jesus Halo, it certainly comes close if you don't mind looking like some kind of faun with the staff on your back or like some creepy creature with mask mode on.

I don't know about everyone else, but I had a hard time making this staff work. It doesn't seem to led itself to many items in the male inventory, but more than likely someone out there is going to use this as part of their Final Fantasy cosplay avatar.

In short, the item is beautifully designed, but poorly executed in options and avatar compatibility.

Mr. Roboto!
Is it just me, or does anyone else think this guy looks like a BaBomb from the Mario games? Seriously, it's a BaBomb! Look at it in its default setting where it stands next to you. Its black orb and its eyes look too much like it. The antenna isn't helping change that look either.

In any event, this little guy probably falls under the same genre of items that are going to be treated like pets but are probably not. The G-BOT does prove to be one of the more versitle toys out there for the Gaian market.

Aside from the default mode (BaBomb mode, as I'll call it), you get a shield version of the G-BOT, perfect for playing rounds of Extreme Dodgeball with! Too bad I can't place where that design is from with the single red eye scanning left to right. I know I've seen it somewhere before.

Anyway, the other modes are a variety of emote modes. Default Emote makes you look like you belong in the Dreamworks movie Robots, at least from the neck up. Emote >_< makes you look like you belong on South Park. Emote KiKi lets you show off a rather shocked looking cat. Honestly, I'm shocked KiKi snuck into the program. She has enough items as it is. Emote G-BOT logo is pretty much you walking around with a big advertisement on your face. Emote -_- makes you look like you went into standby mode for the night.

And then there's Skull Mode. This mode is the creepy one. The Shielded Helmet mode that comes after it has nothing on how scary the Skull mode is. Combined with the right set of clothing, I bet you a Gaian can look like an invader from space. You know, the kind that can kill you with just a stare. Of course, with some matching blue clothing, some guys could probably cosplay as Mr. Freeze from Batman if they really tried.

The Shield Helmet version gives you that cyborg look of indifferance. You know, the one where you are not sure if they are good or bad, but more than likely they are bad. What i don't like about this mode is that it limits what else you can wear with it. You are pretty much stuck with a pallet of grays in this mode. At least it looks good with Armor RoRo on, but until we get robotic arms, the best we can do for the rest of the body is to find a match in what clothing we have. Too bad the only ones that come close to looking robotic are the GetaGRIP set and the various tight suits.

Overall, it's a cute bot, I'll say that much. I enjoy the bot over the Sun Staff simply because it is not only designed better, but it also has more funcationality and compatibility. That right there is enough to make anyone want to buy it.

That, and it looks cute walking in towns the way it hobbles on its stationary feet like R2D2.

Solar Power Machines
'Nuff said here. Get the BaBomb G-BOT. It's both cute and creepy and has more functionality than the Sun Staff. Unless you are into the fantasy side of Gaia, that is. If you like to dress up in fantasy or wizard-style dresses, then I recommend you invest in another staff. While the design is nice, it's nearly impossible to work with and make it look good.

Good review. Personally, I didn't like either of them until I read your review. It seems that there's a lot to the G-Bot that I didn't know 3nodding
