March 2006 Donation Item Critique
This month's items are the Demonbow and Mochi the Puppy.

(Cute + Cool) * High Appeal = Inflation In Next Month's Sealed
So we now have Gaia's first pet, and a bow that obviously has potential to become mini-back wings. I would be very surprised if they don't cause an inflation in next month's letters (which is going to drive my butt into the ground). I'd kick these donation items out of spite, but then I'd be kicking a puppy, and I just can't do that. It would be wrong to hurt something so damn cute (even if it came with a bow from Hell).

Gaia's First Pet
Mochi the Puppy is rather cute. As far as what breed of dog it is, I'd guess a Corgi. It has the short legs and the same kind of fur patterning that some Corgis have.

And for all you Cowboy Bebop fans that may be reading this, there are two kinds of Corgis. The one on the show is the tailless kind favored by one of the Queens of England (forgot which). This kind of Corgi (the one with a tail) is favored by live stock farmers.

Anyway, Mochi is quite the cute little puppy.

In the default setting, he will stay by your side. In this setting, you will even notice he has a little custom animation in Towns when you walk so he can "go about his business." And the best part is that he is far away from the feet blur area for your appreciation.

The next two modes this little pup can be in are known as Snuggle and Cuddle. As you can tell by the name, you get hugged or get to hug your little puppy. Both of these modes are best viewed sitting, but not from the back. It's a bit too suggestive from behind. The differance between Snuggle and Cuddle is the position of Mochi. In Cuddle, he is facing out. In Snuggle, he's giving you a dog kiss.

The last mode is the ever popular "On the head" mode favored by the kitty plushies and a certain green rabbit. Nothing new here except for the fact that Gaia's first dog can do it as well. However, at the time of this critique, there's a bug with this mode. If you sit down, Mochi goes missing. Hopefully, he'll be back once they find out where he went.

Do the humane thing and pick one up. PETA will thank you later.

The Anti-Cupid
Archers and Ranger RPers, rejoyce! You now have a weapon of your own! With all the close-range weapons out there in Gaia, it's nice to have a long range weapon for once. However, because this is the Deamonbow, expect there to be an Angelic counterpart in the future (possible next month at the earliest).

The default setting is pretty standard. It goes into your hand and you can hold it in various positions. If you want to look like you are actually drawing the string back, you can't do that. For some strange reason, there isn't a draw string on the bow itself. This will probably be a non-issue when (or rather IF) the Battle System comes out.

In all honesty, however, it looks like a giant Battorange.

The other two modes go across your avatar's chest. This is where it gets stranger. Normally, the bow would go on your back in this mode of carrying, but instead it goes in the front. With two in each of their positions (left and right), you could walk around with a big X on your chest. If you are going to only be able to afford one bow, then go with the Right Cross version, as it doesn't look as awkward while also keeping the bow out of your avatar's face.

The last mode is the reason why I think this item alone will raise prices for the letters next month. Known as Back Mount, they might as well change the name to Mini-Wing mode. As you can see from the thumbnail, the bow goes on your back and produces some rather demonic metalic wings. The back shows the bow and where the wings start as well as the line that connects the two parts of the bow together. I recommend getting something black and looks like a backpack from beind. Unless you want to go as a flying turtle or flying monkey.

The Mini-Wing mode is going to be the selling point for this item. People wanted backwings for as long as I've been a member of Gaia, so it would ony make sense that this item would sell and probably inflate like crazy.

Back to Oz
What? Don't tell me you didn't see that coming. Little dog, flying monkey. All we are missing is a lion, a tin man, a scarecrow, a witch, a fairy, a wizard, several little people, and a girl that will ultimately preform a downward spiral after singing probably the most iconic and annoying song in the history of motion picture until Titanic came along.

In any event, this month's items are kind of average. They have their selling points, but overall, they are not all that "OMG! I MUST HAVE ONE!" unless you are really wanting some wings for your back or a dog to walk around town to enhance your Demonic/Cute factor your avatar already is displaying.

Other than that, expect to see mini Angelic wings in the future... and maybe even another pet to counter Mochi.

I want an iguana as a donation item, then laugh at all the Miss Frizzle cosplayers.

Actually, you could make a fairy (fairy wings), a witch (witch hat and wardrobe), a tin mam (tin can hat and robot suit), little people (elf costumes), and a Dorothy.. the lion and scarecrow are still yet to come... that might give you some insight into the next item update xd
