Chapter 1.

- Ready? - she asked with a slight smile.
- Yeah... In a minute. - I answered while sitting on the floor, surrounded by piles of clothing.
- Let me help you. - she said, stretching her hand towards me. I grabbed it and stood up. My room was a mess. There were clothes everywhere. I even found my black hat, which I thought I lost a long time ago.
- You don't need anything special, - said Sam, while gathering my clothes and stuffing them back into the closet, - this is a simple party... Here, take these, they will fit you perfectly. - she gave me a sweater, which previously belonged to my father, and my dark jeans. - Come on, I'll do your hair. - she smiled wildly.
Slowly, I put on my jeans, shirt, and the sweater. My pale skin shone in the evening sun. Sam looked at me with a concerned look on her face.
- Have you eaten lately? - she dared asking.
- Mm... I ate an orange in the morning.
- One? You can't live on oranges for breakfast. That is not healthy!
- I don't care, - I looked down, - I'm just not that hungry these days.
- Sure you are! Who are you trying to fool? A year ago you couldn't last a minute without candy or snacks. You would stuff your face with food from my fridge every single time you visited me. What happened to you?
I looked up and our eyes crossed. I couldn't tell her. I didn't had the heart to throw everything at her face. I wanted, but I couldn't. Yes, I did love food very much. I was never overweight, so it wasn't a problem to me. But after what happened, I just don't have the energy to make something decent to eat. Or any energy to go to the store and buy something. I ate whatever I had at the moment. I ate what my mother brought me. I ate what my friends would buy me. And if there were no food left, I would just starve myself. But I never really noticed my hunger. I was never hungry. I would only eat, because I knew I had to.
- I'm not hungry. - I mumbled and turned to the bathroom.
I knew I was hurting her. I knew she was just worried about me, I knew every single one of my friends was. But I didn't want to care. I did, but I didn't want to.
- You said you would do my hair, - I smiled at Sam, and gave her my hairbrush.
She smiled back and started combing my hair.

- Do you like it?
I looked at the mirror. There stood a young, beautiful lady, with her ash color blonde hair put up in a big bun, decorated with a pink bow. I was astonished. It's been a while since I did anything with my hair or put on makeup. Since I never left my flat, I didn't feel the need to dress up like that.
- It's very pretty. - I answered.
- You are very pretty, - corrected me Sam.
I smiled.
