There was a shooting just down the road from my house the Thursday before last. It's surprising that I never noticed it. Well, maybe I did, but there's always some sort of screaming or shouting going on from over there, so I probably just shrugged my shoulders. I found out the Monday after from my Girl Scout troup.
What had happened is one boy, about the age of 14, shot another kid named Nick, also the same age. Nick was a very close friend to a girl in my troup. Nick is stabilized and in the hospital right now. He needed a liver transplant, he lost his gull bladder, and there's quite a lot of damage. There's a chance he'll recover, but his life will never be the same. What's even more depressing, though, was that the Monday the newpaper reported it, another girl in my Girl Scout troup had an article on the same page about the poem she write about heros.
For the longest time we were wondering why Nick was shot, it was a WTF moment. Nick was a good kid, a bit spastic, but good. But the police were doing investigations to find out how they got ahold of the gun to find that they were planning to blow up a portion on thier school, shoot the principle, and maybe even some of the students.
Good thing I only go to that school for one period. >__>;;
