I woke up not knowing whether I was alive or dead. I moved slightly and felt a pain in my chest. I opened my eyes, blinking several times. everything was blurry.
I must have made a noise or something because a voice said, "I think she's awake."
Everything echoed. It made my head throb.
"How? ... she must have been under water for at least ten minutes," Another voice answered.
"Is she human?" a third voice asked.
"I think so. but who can ever tell these days."
A light was shined into my eyes and I gasped, "Are you human?" the first voice asked.
I tried to say yes but my throat hurt ferociously so I nodded. That too hurt. The light went away and was replaced with the face of a girl.
"what happened to you?" she asked, she was the third voice and I assumed the only female.
"Neesha, give her space, her throat is severly damaged."
The three bodies moved back as I forced myself into a sitting position. I ached all over, and it took a moment for my eyes to adjust to my surroundings.
I looked around at the three bodies that were still watching me with curiousness and suspicion. Neesha, the girl who I had first seen, stood in between the two boys, she was tiny compared to the boys, but she held herself in such a confident way that you could tell she didn't need them to protect her. The man to her left was dark of skin, with a scar across his bare muscular chest. He had dark eyes that looked black in the dim lighting. The final boy was smaller, but just as muscular. He had eyes that were almost as light as the first man was dark, but they held no warmth. He wore a sleeveless shirt showed that he had several highly decorated tatoos underneath.
They all glared down at me and I wondered if I had escaped the lion's den and gone straight into a tigers.
