One of the more fun aspects of Black and White is the "reboot" metagame of using only Unova Pokemon; preventing the use of older generation Pokemon from battle and egg move chain-breeding. The limited resources present a challenge while also mixing up the competitive flavor of battle from the stagnant unlimited "OU" metagame present in most communities. This type of metagame isn't knew, either. The 386 format was introduced with Gen III, restricing Pokemon to only those found in Ruby and Sapphire. A small following was retained through the generation, despite additional Gen III game releases (FR/LG, Colo/XD).
So here I am with my Kanto variant:
- Any Pokemon between the National Pokedex numbers of #001 to #149 can be used. Mewtwo and Mew are excluded.
This includes any sort of Chain Breeding, but shortcuts are allowed as long as they don't break the overall legality of the move (such as breaking egg group restrictions by
All Items and Gen V TM's are allowed, unless otherwise stated. Double-Team and Brightpowder can be restricted if the player feels it is necessary.
