The year is 2034...
After massive earth quakes and a chemical spill, earth's lifeforms have mutated into monstrous creatures, this includes humans to plants. The smallest lifeforms, such as millipedes, mutated into large two ton burrowing monsters that come out at night and eat anything that got stuck in one of their trenches. Those who managed to escape the mutations have to have respirators to prevent the chemicals to enter their lungs and change them. They set up air locked stations in cliffs to prevent the millipedes from finding them, but their biggest threat are the birds, which have a thirty foot wing span.
