PAIN, throbbing pain in his chest that coursed through his veins as if to turn his blood caustic, the first sensation on waking was that followed by his senses awakening one by one. The first to come online was touch, and that roused his ears as he made a rumbling growl in his throat that radiated up to his ears. Following that was the scent of flesh burning it was as though he could taste the coppery flavor of raw meat. Finally sight returned and in all his days of wandering he wished it hadn't as an image of hell unfolded in front of him. There was fire spreading along the corridor where figures ran about as though in slow motion in front of his eyes.“You cannot simultaneously prevent and prepare for war.”
