Deltas Journal
A random collection of my thoughts
Tomorrow Never Comes
If you live your life tomorrow
soon you will have nothing left.
And your life will become hollow.
Charge your former self for theft.
Waiting will accomplish nothing.
Time does not wait for you.
Every second has a purpose.
Every minute is made for you.

This is the chorus to Tomorrow by Sturmreaktor.

It should be common sense but this is a concept that often escapes us. It has escaped me for certain. My health is getting worse because of it. I've got high blood pressure and I think I'm nearing diabetes. 6 months ago I had pneumonia. I went to the doctor and my blood pressure was high. She tested my blood sugar was perfect. A couple weeks ago I went to the doctor because of a bad allergic reaction. My blood pressure was still high and my blood sugar was high. I hadn't eaten anything in 8 hours and my blood sugar was still above normal. Today I gave blood and when they tested my blood pressure it was still high. I've had my blood pressure tested about 6 times in the last 6 months and only one reading was normal. The rest of the times the readings were all high. I tried to reassure myself by saying I recently ate something with a lot of salt or I was under a lot of stress or whatever.

I've got to be honest with myself. I need to take better care of myself. I rarely drink anything so I'm almost perpetually in a state of dehydration. I eat a lot of food from time to time. I don't excercise nearly enough. I keep telling myself I will work on it tomorrow. I'll do it tomorrow. 3 years later and tomorrow still never comes. Sometimes I say today is the first day and I do a good job. The next day I'm back to procrastination. Today I need to make a stand. I'm on a nice start but I need to keep committed.

First off I need a better diet. I eat semi healthy food. When I have a salad I don't put stuff like bacon or ranch or anything on it. I just stick to the salad greens and sometimes sunflower seeds but nothing else. I hear you can lose a lot of weight if you cut out soda. I seldom drink soda though. If I cut back on soda any further I will cut it out of my life completely. One or two cans of soda a month is about all I drink so drinking less won't do much to help. I can't cut back on the sweets much. I occasionally have some pie or cookies or something but I don't have it very often. Having it less often can't hurt much. I need to cut back on salty foods. I looked up natural ways to lower blood pressure and apparently cutting back on alcohol and tobacco helps too. I don't smoke or drink at all so that is no help to me. I'm just mentioning this in case anyone is reading this and can use the information. Less salt will help lower blood pressure. Almost everyone knows that. Unfortunately it does little if anything to help lower weight. I like salt so that's gonna suck. Also I need to lower my fat intake. I generally try not to use much butter, oil, or fatty meats but it doesn't hurt to double check. The big thing I have to do is reducing over all caloric intake. That shouldn't be too hard since lately I've been cutting back anyway.

Next I need to get more exercise. Today I went for a 2 mile walk. I had to stop to catch my breath 3 times. That could just be because donating blood about an hour before the walk. You're not supposed to do too much exercise after donating blood. Let's face it I'm still out of shape so that was probably it too. I've used the same route for my walks for 4 years but I'll adjust the route to throw another mile on the route. Come summer the river will go back down and I can go for a swim. The good swimming hole is about a mile walk each way so that's a 2 mile walk PLUS swimming. That's a good workout routine. Eventually I want to get back into lifting weights but I hate squats. Still it will be good exercise.
