3. Once upon a time, there was a group of children, just like us. They were called the Children of the Sun. The Children lived in the woods of a distant kingdom, just as we do now. In that kingdom, everyone was active at night and slept by day. The children came out during the day to play, sing, dance, and do what they could to keep alive." Keere smiled more warmly. "The children lived in peace, never fearing guards nor nobles, for they were loved by the others of the kingdom. At night, while the children slept, others would bring baskets of blankets, food, and other things to the edge of the forest and leave them there. Every morning, the children would find the baskets and bundles and rejoice. All of the children of the kingdom wanted to see the Children of the Sun, so every once in a while they would slip ou of bed to see them at play... The Children of the Sun were all orphans, but there was no disgrace to them, for it could not be helped, after all, didn't everyone's parents die someday, even if the children were grown? The Chldren of the Sun were both small yet great in number at the same time. It was nearly an honor to join the well loved group if your parents died, because you were very well cared for and were never lonely, One day, the youngest of the Children, named Karynne, wandered into town in the middle of the night. Everyone stopped and stared, for they knew who she was by the glass bangle on her left arm with a golden charm that looked like the sun. All of the village children flocked to her to play. The girl was even brought to the seamstress, who made her a beautiful dress of satin and silk. Next she was brought to the palace and was introduced to the King, Queen, and Princess. The royal famly loved the adorable chld so mch, that they adopted her and she became a princess. But still, she would slip out to visit her dear friends in the forest. And the young princess Karynne was the only person who would venture into the home of the Children of the Sun. Karynne grew older, as did her friends, and she began to have less and less free time to visit. Soon, the princess became homesick of the forest, and she secretly ran away to the others once more, for she could not hide that she was still a Child of the Sun. Now the prncess is grown, but the younger Children of the Sun cherish her memory by looking at her glass bangle that sits in a grove of willows, upon a mossy stone that is eternally surounded by flowers of red, orange, and yellow.
