Long break in the nightly news.

And because of that, I give you the following novel:

Kristi came up for the weekend. Sucky thing was that they had planned to spend almost all day in Chicago and then they ended up not being able to do much there b/c there was a major protest going on.

Then they were gonna take a train out to near Steve's house, I'd go pick them up, and then it was supposed to be off to Bowl House and then Kenosha. Well, they were gonna get on the 5:45 train and come early, but then the train was packed, so they got off since there wasn't anywhere to sit. And then they were gonna just wait around 5-10 more minutes and then get on the 6:04 train. But as the 5:45 train was pulling away from the station, it was announced that the 6:04 train was cancelled. And it was the last of the "rush hour" trains so there wasn't another one for another 40 minutes. And then their 45 minutes train ride ended up being an hour b/c there were so many extra people getting on and off trains. So there was no time for Bowl House

So instead we got deliciously greasy classic american food at this place called Big Sammy's. And then went up to Kenosha.

Friday night was funny b/c Ryan, Steve's old roomie and Kristi's old bf was there. And Kristi had brought along her new boyfriend Josh xd so they ended up trading stories and ganging up on Kristi which was just funny.

Saturday:

I woke up with a horrible ear ache. My ears have been itchy alot lately, but Saturday I finally woke up with the infection. We went to IHOP where I took some advil and did my best to eat my biscuits and gravy without hurting my jaw too much (jaw hurt b/c of all the pressure from mah ear infection).

After that, Steve went and got his eyebrow pierced while Kristi, Josh, and I went down to Carthage to go walk down by the beach. Unfortunately there was a swim meet going on so parking was a b***h and then it was pretty windy and a bit chilly, so we just kind walked down to the beach, stood there for a few minutes and then went "ok lets go back to Luke's"

So we went back to Luke's and finally my ears started feeling better. Then everyone started playing Soul Calibur and I started to get a headache. But I had to wait a few more hours before my advil wore off b/c I wasn't sure if there was any bad thing that would happen if I took Excedrin while I still had advil in my system xd

Then we watched Anchorman and I started drinking lots of water b/c I know what happens when I take Excedrin (or anything with alot of caffeine). And then I played a few rounds of Katamari, took my Excedrin, and then it was time to go over to Amanda's for a PLM reunion, which, of course, consisted of playing Scene It and DDR. We played a couple games of Scene It since the first one went by stupid fast, and we ate yummy pizza and then it was DDR time.

And I made the mistake of playing when I was already having some of the not so great side-effects of too much caffeine. Mah heart did not want to slow down crying It sucked. But then it slowed down... but not all was good. After a little while longer we went back to Luke's and just hung out watching TV and I layed down and tried to go to sleep b/c that's about all I can do if drinking water doesn't make all the bad caffeine side-effects go away. But alas, I was up for another 4 hours.

Sunday:

Woke up with an even worse ear ache, and felt a bit nauseous. So I had Steve run to walgreen's to see if they had any ear drops that weren't prescription but that still might help, and had him get me a Sprite too. He didn't bother to read the box of ear drops he picked up b/c it said right on them "Do not take if you have pain in the ears" And then the Sprite made me burp alot.... which hurt my ears xd Most people know that your ears are connected to everything the way your mouth and nose and eyes all are, but you never really think about the pressure from a burp trying to escape through your ears until it hurts when the pressure can't get out xd

I called in to work to let them know I was calling in sick for the next day so I could figure out my insurance and go see a doctor about my ears.

So then we headed home and made a stop at Mitsuwa since we couldn't go to Bowl House. We introduced Kristi and Josh to the wonders of pocky (which they loved) and Ramune (which they didn't love) xd And it was funny to watch Josh... he just walked around kinda in a dazed awe. It was funny xd

Then we made it back home just in time to try the ramune and then head off to the train station to put Kristi and Josh on a train that would get them to Union Station with plenty of time to board their next train.

Then I went to Radio Shack to see what I could find out about the health insurance I was supposed to be eligible for after 90 days of employment as a full time employee. I couldn't find out much b/c all the places were closed, so I just wrote down some numbers to call the next day.

And then I just kinda sat around playing FFX for awhile.

Around 8, Kristi called me and was like "We're stopped just outside Bloomington" (Bloomington is about an hour away from their final stop in Springfield). There were some real bad storms that rolled through Springfield and the area around 8pm. Tons of tornadoes, alot of strong wind, and gallons upon gallons of rain. They'd heard that Josh's house had some wind damage, and Kristi's parents had gone to eat at Denny's in Springfield and they had to like, go to the cooler b/c of a tornado.

So I called home to check on mom and dad and make sure if they were ok. Couldn't get through to either of them... one of the towers or a switch had to have gotten knocked out. So I left them messages telling them to call me the next day, went back to my ffx and then tried to go to bed. I failed b/c my ears hurt so bad. I would like sleep for 15-30 minutes and then be mostly awake for another 30-45 minutes. I remember noticing the sun coming up and at that point I was like "screw it I'm taking advil" and I did and then within a half hour or so I was out....

And then my dad decided to call me on his way to work to let me know that they were ok after the storm. Dad has to be to work at 7am gonk so pretty much I'd been asleep an hour or so xd

So then I go back to sleep after I hear he's ok...

And 2 hours later Kristi calls me.

To tell me she's still on the train.

12 hours after she was supposed to be in Springfield, she was still just outside of Bloomington. There was alot of debris on the tracks and such, but they were sending busses out to pick up everyone from the train and take them to their stop, or to the next closest train station where they could continue their journey.

And then I went back to sleep, and slept through my alarm that I really didn't need to wake up for.

Made some calls about the insurance, and found out that Radio Shack wasn't ever fully clear about how their insurance works. You are eligible to have insurance after you've been employed for 90 days... but you have to enroll before your first 90 days are up. So I've been there since August and I'm not eligible to enroll again until May b/c that their next open enrollment period.

So then I had to pay $100 on a doctor's visit, $140 on my ear drops and antibiotics, and I have to pay another $100 tomorrow on a follow-up visit. Joy.

Spent most of the time not at the doctor's playing ffx. I just wasn't in the mood to be in front of the computer.

Tuesday I managed to sleep through my alarm again, only this time it mattered. I set the alarm for 7:30 b/c I had to leave by 8:30 to get to my class for work on time.

I woke up at 8:40.

At 8:42 I was calling my manager, who just so happened to be teaching the class. Lucky for me. So I was like "homans i just woke up I'll be there as soon as I can but I gotta do my ear drops and it takes me a half hour to get there once I leave" and he was like "ok not a problem"

Class wasn't too bad, and work later wasn't that bad at all. I had my meds and my ear didn't hurt too badly, but it still was hard to open my mouth very far without it hurting so I noticed myself talking all stupid xd

Sold a phone right off the bat too smile

Came home.... played on Gaia a bit, and then just sat around watching TV with Steve.

And then today I pretty much just played ffx more and spent about 5 hours working on probably my favorite profile to date smile
