This is the comment I made to Naya's journal, but I felt like it should be said here.

Welcome to being alive. If we are supposed to be happy with all of the material possesions we've got, then screw it. The only true things that can make us happy is what means the most to us. not food, it's a necessity, but it isn't happieness, and not shelter, nothing. If your not greatful for them, it means your human. we're american. it's how we're raised. Personally, I'd rather be happy that I still have both my parents than be happy my parents give me food/money. And as for being selfish? If you arn't, then you'd never be happy. Because it means you focus everything you've got on other people who never realize that your giving up a lot for them! They're pricks. And you know what? I went out with Brandon, Phaedren, Wiggins, Steve-o, and Chris last night, and Brandon said something pretty damn cool. almost intelligent god-forbid. "We always have the most fun when we're wasting our lives." It's an odd thought, but very accurate. So maybe we should just keep working hard, getting good grades, and getting yelled at, but if you never waste time, you'll never have the most fun. You know what? When I had the house to myself, playing ddr and doing some yoga, I'd been happier than I've been in a long time. Maybe I was being selfish because I didn't answer my phone, maybe I could've been doing homework, but for those few hours, I was truly happy. It felt like nothing could go wrong. So be selfish, ok? Because you'll never know how many of us are happier just seeing you keep yourself intact.
