Chapter 3
Kate awakens early in the morning to find actual food next to her. There was a lot of berries picked, and they all looked so tasteful. She could tell from the smell of them, that they were all freshly picked. Sitting next to them was umbreon looking at her with a smiley.
"Umbreon..." she whispers.
"I can't accept them, there yours. You deserve them more for what you've done."
After her soft words, the umbreon looks up at the girl in shock. Humans were suppose to be greedy, at least that's what the street pokemon always said. For humans to deny food was like...amazing. But then, this girl was no ordinary 8 year old girl. She had been living on her own, causing her to be different from the other young ladies.
The umbreon begins to pick up a berry, and gently places it in the girls palm. After it had gently placed the berry in her hand, Kate looks into the saddened eyes of the umbreon. By the looks of it, he too has had some hardship in his life.
"Umbreon...is there anything wrong?" she politely asks.
After her strong words, the umbreon starts to remember his memories from his old trainer. He too used to have a trainer, one of the greatest of all trainers. But when Kanto became known for having shadow pokemon, he ditched him in an alley faster then you can say 'Pokemon.' After his sudden old memories were flowing through his head again, the umbreon quickly shakes his head no. While at it, he tries to shake himself loose from his old, darkened memories.
"Okay," she replies.
The girl takes the berry that had been placed in her hand, and delicately eats it. After the berry was eaten, Kate takes the remainder of the berries and splits them up between them. She gave umbreon the bigger half since he was the one that found them. The umbreon did not know how to react to this act of kindness, he had never been treated like an equal before. His old owner always treated him like a pokemon that battles, and nothing more. This girl he rescued was definitely special.
The umbreon slowly grabs from his pile while Kate ate from hers. Umbreon was a fast eater, his pile was going in an instant. Kate on the other hand was very slow. She ate her berries with pleasure, even though she wasn't hungry. Since she never had food, she grew to have a low appetite. That pile of berries was probable the most she's ever eaten at once.
"Thank You" says the girl.
"Umm" says the umbreon with pleasure.
As they finished up their breakfast, the morning was approaching very fast. Soon there would be sunlight, so the two could enjoy a day together in the open sun. Except this time, they both wouldn't be alone.
