I just got back from New Orleans yesterday. I slept the whole entire flight back, which is rare because I usually never sleep on airplanes. I payed for it though, my neck is still killing me.
While in New Orleans, I visited the St. Louis cemetery #1 to look at Marie Laveau's grave. Marie Laveau was the queen of voodoo and has a tomb clad with X's and other offerings or gifts (the cemetery was also on the Top 10 Things to do in New Orleans list.... I couldn't resist). I also looked at other oddly above ground tombs. The architecture was beautiful. The weather was rainy. And I loved reading how old each person was when they died. Another plus was reading and translating all the French tombs (I felt so BA). I walked by this one tomb though, and noticed a large hole at the bottom of it. I was curious, and I looked inside. I saw no casket, no not that. I saw bones. BONES! All muddy and scattered with the tibias and UGH It completely freaked me out.
My friend wasn't as freaked out as I was and took pictures of him/her. But I mean, that pile of bones use to have a sense of humor.
