Somedays I wonder what seems to make some people unbelievably idiotic. Everyday everyone is faced with at least one choice, no matter how small or large. Now, when it comes down to it, I can't help but wonder why we seem to make the choices that we know will probably hurt us in the long run.
Perfect example, there is a kid I know from school who is on the magazine staff with me. Now I know he may not be the brightest bulb in the bunch, but a few days ago he was caught with drugs in school. I just can't help but wonder where were his brains?
I don't know, maybe it's the fact that I've been working with the media too long in school (something I'm coming to see more as a job than a class now a days), but everywhere I turn I seem to see people making wong choices and I just can't help but wonder do they even bother to think at all before they act. I mean, by no means am I perfect, and in fact I have gotten myself into trouble before for being impulsive (which thankfully I am no longer) but that is exactly why I just want to scream at them. Yes everyone makes mistakes, but learn from history and mistakes that have already been made!
This is what it comes down to in my generation, or at least it seems to be the case: People think that it won't happen to them, but that is exactly what sets them up for failure. Girls who sleep around don't think they'll get pregnent, guys who drink and drive think they won't crash, people who brings drugs to school don't think they'll get caught or that those drugs will effect them down the line. It all leads to one thing, everyone's uttmost downfall.
And so, because I am getting sick enough everytime I look at the newspaper I just have a few last words:
THINK BEFORE YOU ACT! You really are no exclusion to any rule, and don't think that you are.
