Work was soooo not fun today.
First, Ryan was late. As per usual.
Then, Archana was being somewhat of a typical newbie and not knowing anything. Which I can't blame her for. But she didn't just ask questions.... she would make me help her customer... and get impatient if I was already helping a customer. She would practically demand that I help her customer even if I was in the middle of helping mine.... once she was even sitting there like bumping my shoulder to try to get me to help her customer.
So for awhile there were like 15 different people in the store at any given time, and I was helping all of them.
Then someone came in just wanting to add a phone so she was the one who talked to them about it. so it was her sale, even though she didn't know how to do it. I was still busy helping everyone else in the store, since Ryan took an hour lunch (after showing up a half hour late), and I still had to help her. Well finally Ryan showed back up and started helping her, and people cleared out. So I went and took my lunch at 4pm.
Well I come back to find out that even though it was Archana's sale, Ryan rung it up. And then he told her that he rang it b/c she doesn't get comission off it and she's not allowed to b/c it's part of MIT training or something.
Well then she left b/c it was time for her to go.
At 5:30, Ryan comes out of the back office with his coat, and I was like "where are you going?" and he was like "home, did you forget?" and I was like "Phil told me that he said you could leave early only if Archana stayed and he was like "if he forgot that's bullshit" and I straight out told him "it's kinda bullshit that you show up late and get to leave early"
Well then he pretended like he called the manager but he didn't really, and then he left.
And then we got busy and I didn't get to leave until 6:20 even though we closed at 6.
And here was the best part of my day.
A guy bought a prepaid cingular phone yesterday, as well as a $100 minute card for the new phone.
The minute cards are non-refundable. They can, however, be voided within 30 minutes of the original sale.
Anyways, he comes back today, mad b/c he couldn't activate the phone on Sundays and mad b/c Cingular sucks at making their activation books and people have a tendency of scratching through the activation pin when they try to scratch off that "protective" stuff, like when you scratch off a lotto card and whatnot.
Well, I knew right off the bat he was gonna be angry about the minutes, so I went and called up my manager.
At the time I didn't realize he'd bought $100 worth of minutes, I just had remembered Phil selling him extra minutes.
So I made sure that there wasn't anything I could do about the minutes right off the bat.
Well obviously the man was upset. "I paid $100 I want my $100 back, that's bullshit that you can't do anything."
There is not one way that I could give him that money back that I know of, or that Phil told me.
It says right on the reciept that they are non-refundable.
Well then he gets all pissy saying that he's gonna get his money back in store credit or that he's gonna take his $100 out on my manager's face.
Then he goes slamming the phone and the phones charger on the counter, which is made of glass. I swear I thought he was gonna break it or throw the phone at me. He threw some of the paperwork at me though.
At which point I reminded him that there was nothing I could do and that he'd just have to take it up with my manager tomorrow. He then told me that I was going to refund him the money for his phone, which I can do. I gave him his money, and then asked him to sign the reciept saying that he recieved his money.
He of course, walked away, held his hands up and said "I didn't sign anything, I didn't get anything."
Which means he now has no proof in his possession that he even bought the minutes b/c he left his original reciept and everything on the counter.
After all this, I was shaking pretty good for the next 15 minutes. I called up my manager and he said that he had called the district manager (b/c I had Phil still on the phone when the jackass was saying about how he was gonna kick Phil's a**) and the DM said to file a report with the police so that if the guy does come back tomorrow, we can call the cops right then and they can come out and help take care of the situation.
So yeah. Not a fun day at all.
And on top of that, the superbowl commercials weren't even that good this year.
