So, I just finished watching Dead Poet's Society. Wonderful movie, it allmost made me cry. And then I wrote this after, so make what you will of it.



What is the most grievous sin, but the wilful destruction of the human spirit? What is the most horrible crime to commit to another thinking being but to tread down upon their will to life? A passion is not to be scorned at, but to be encouraged, for it is truly the spice of life. A whim must be cherished for it is the essence of the lightness of the spirit, and the true expression of joy, the joy to learn, and the joy to live. What one wants to do is easily synonymous with what one must do, for if it is not done, the spirit may easily wither and die. Death of the soul; the latest disease runs rampant. Those whose souls have fallen prey to this beast exist only for the cold task maker of duty and necessity. The human needs more than to simply exist - the human needs to thrive. To love, to live, these are the most admirable goals one may have. To live, for how may one truly live, if they do not love? Love their selves, love what they do, love the world around them. And how can one love, if one cannot live? Not to live is the death of the soul, and love comes only from the soul. Reject the rational. Tear away the stark bond of reason. Emotion not something to grow away from and leave behind like a sad piece of refuse. Embrace it. Turn the flaw into a banner and wave it from the rooftops. It is love, and when all has passed, what can be said to be stronger?
