Last Friday I saw the local highschool's production of the Broadway musical Beaty and the Beast. It was always my favorite Disney story and I was much offended by the fact that my friends kept comparing it with the cartoon version. Are they just so dense as to not realize there isa difference between cartoons and Broadway?
One of the reasons that I saw it was my cousin was in it. He played one of Gaston's cronies.
I also couldn't help but compare it with the movie, though my comparison was a little less critical. It wasn't so much comparing as it was observing. These are some of the things I noticed:
~Play: Maurice was taller than Belle.
Movie: Belle was taller than Maurice.
~Play: The Beast was shorter than Belle.
Movie: Belle was shorter than the Beast.
~Play: Baubette (the feather duster) was a semi-important character.
Movie: Baubette was only in about two scenes.
~The scenes where Gaston proposed to Belle were different.
Among other things.
I have found that my favorite song is still the main theme and my favorite dance is still Be Our Guest.
