Most of us are impatient for God to grant us the things that we wish for and hope for. Usually, we know precisely what we want, and we know precisely when we want it: Right now, if not sooner. But God may have other plans. And when God's plans differ from our own, we know that we should trust in Hid infinite wisdom and in His infinite love. But we also know from firsthand experience that trusting God is hard to do.
As busy people living in a fast-paced world, many of us find that waiting quietly for God is difficult. Why? Two reasons: 1. Because we live in a rapidly changing world, we're accustomed to things happening fast. 2. Because we're imperfect human beings, we want to live according to our own timetables, not God's.
God's Word makes it clear: He instructs us to be patient, very patient. We must be patient with our families, with our friends, and with our acquaintances. We must also be patient with our Heavenly Father as He unfolds His plan for our lives. And that's as it should be. After all, think how patient God has been with us.
Thoughts For Today.
When I am dealing with an all-powerful, all-knowing God, I, as a mere mortal, must offer my petitions not only with persistence, but also with patience. Someday I'll know why.
Patience is a virtue that carries a lot of wait.
A Tip For Today.
God has been patient with you. Now it's your turn to be patient with others.
A Prayer For Today.
Lord, sometimes I can be very impatient. Slow me down and calm me down. Let me trust in Your plan, Father; Let me trust in Your timetable; And let me trust in Your love for me. Amen.
A Verse For Today.
Yet the Lord longs to be gracious to you; He rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all who wait for Him!
Isaiah 30:18 NIV
