Went to a tournament in Cincinnati today. Can't say that it was enjoyable, came in third, which is basically last, in every event.
You would think that a person who was able to break all his boards on the first try would score higher than a person who had to try four times, but apparently not. I saw something that really pissed me off though. One of the judges was constantly giving out 8's, 8.1, 8.4, you get what I mean. I would have been fine with that ordinarily, but if you don't erase the 8 or the decimal point, just the number after the decimal, I have a problem.
Also did forms, I did a form that is a couple levels above my own and came in last. And by admission of spectators, mine was one of the best. But whatever. I'll go back next year and blow 'em away.
Sparring, was hard as hell but I loved it. However, I did make one mistake, one very big one. I hadn't had anything to eat or drink since about 8 in the morning. By the time sparring came round, it was at least 4pm. I didn't think anything was wrong until after I fought my first round. Hunger and dehydration hit me like a sack 'a potatoes. Needless to say I lost. After the fight the guy said I did really well considering the height difference. He had real long legs, so it made it a little bit harder, and he was blazin' fast. Final score ended up being 7-12 if I remember correctly. I can honestly say that I have a sparring bug now. I ******** love the full contact, non-stop fighting that this tournament used. It's an endurance trial man.
Got back home, and then hit the road again. Was hoping to watch the UoL vs UoK game that someone had recorded for those of us who went to the tournament. That didn't happen, so I went and saw Narnia instead. It was a fantastic movie. I thought the book was rather dull, mainly because of the language that's used, but it definately made a good movie.
All in all, a day that ends with a rating of "Eh..."

Sometimes it can feel so good to walk away from the straight and narrow path.
It can be good to be a stray.
